About (she/her)
Dr. Mejia-Murphy values the humanness and uniqueness of each person and begins any therapy by establishing an honest working relationship with the person/people she works with. She believes that this therapeutic relationship is the start of a process where you can deepen your understanding of yourself and your relationships to others. This process can be vulnerable, challenging, and uncomfortable, as well as enlightening, healing, and empowering. What you learn in the process can inform the choices you make in your daily life, choices that can allow for richer connections and fulfillment. Dr. Mejia-Murphy will work with you to create a safe space to think and talk about the challenges you are facing and find avenues toward meaningful change.
Dr. Mejia-Murphy’s training in diverse hospital and outpatient settings has equipped her with the expertise to treat a wide range of presentations and work from a position of advocacy, inclusion, and respect. She practices psychodynamic psychotherapy and incorporates CBT and mindfulness techniques when helpful. She works with couples, individuals, and groups, and often finds that a combined treatment leads to greater and faster growth.
